getting to and from.. EL REMATE, FLORES, PETEN, GUATEMALA we
try to give you the best available information, but schedules change
without notice so try to check before travel.

Guatemalan airport tax of $2 for the flights to and from Tikal, Guatemala departure tax ($30 per person). Exit Belize International airport departure $35 exit tax plus $3.75 conservation tax Warning ….If arriving from Belize be sure to check immigration requirements for re-entry to Belize. We have had Swiss and Argentina visitors who had a one entry visa and were required to get a new visa for re-entry. If you bring the form we can make your pictures (no charge if you are staying with us) and you will be prepared for re-entry. Cost varies depending the country. When arriving by air to Flores, Taxis or minibuses will bring you to La Casa De Don David for $22-$25 ( up to 4 people) Or if there are several other persons traveling in the same minibus you can arrive collective for $3.00 per person. Guatemala
City There is no formal bus station in Guatemala City or other parts on the country. Most services have their private bus station, office or parking place. You can take the 7 to 8 hrs on the luxury (by local standards and OK generally) bus service of La Linea Dorada ($24) http://tikalmayanworld.com to the Flores Tikal area. The good bus leaves each morning at 10:00 am and each night at 9:00 pm 10:00 pm. Often, the overnight bus arrives to Flores in the early morning and you can take collective minibus to El Remate arriving around 6 am. cost Q20. Just ask the driver to drop you at the hotel entrance. Their Tel. in Guatemala city...2232-9658 . There are several other bus companies that are OK. La Fuente del Norte has one good bus also $15 to $20 depending the kind of bus. The newest service is ADN bus, a large double deck bus, every day and every night service. www.adnautobusesdelnorte.com e-mail adn@adnautobusesdelnorte.com o Upon arriving in or near Flores area get a collective mini bus to El Remate. Beware of high pressure ticket salesmen who will offer you some deal that may not workout. Small car taxi will charge about $20.00. In Guatemala City, As in any big city
there are areas unsafe so best be careful. Best to ask for yellow taxi
cabs which have meters. B
Rental cars
are
also
available, try Tabarini Rent-a-car or Tally rental car (near the
airport), Hertz or others To and From RIO DULCE.. Many
buses in route to Flores are passing thru Rio Dulce area all day
and night including the better buse of Linea Dorada and ADN. You can contact
them for pick on the main road. To and From COBAN.. Casa Acuña Hotel has a good
shuttle service to and from El Remate, every day leaving COBAN via
Sayaxche at 8:OO am and leaving El Remate at 1:30 pm. The scenic
trip is about 4 hours over paved road and cost $24 per person. Several
local buses and old shuttles crowded with local people go daily to or
from Sayaxche. There is a local bus from the bus station in Santa Elena
to Coban at 6:30 am and 12:30 pm
From
Chetumal, Mexico & Belize City you
can take the Mundo Maya/Linea Dorada the prefered bus http://tikalmayanworld.com From
Chetumal the bus leaves at 6:00 am daily for about
$27.
From Belize the bus leaves at 9:30 am daily for about $20
This is your best deal as this pullman type bus has reserves seats and
you can arrange with the
drivers to bring you right to the hotel door
in El Remate. Expect to pay about $18.75 in exit fees from
Belize, $15 even
if you are in transit. Save your receipt as it may help on the exit fee
at the airport when you leave Belize or Guatemala if you leave or plan
to return within a month. Best to take the 9.30 am Linea
Dorada (buy tickets on the right as
you enter) bus from the Marine terminal in downtown
Belize
City and arrive to the hotel entrance.(4hrs).. $20 - $23.. (ask the
driver to
bring you the hotel entrance). (If
arriving in the Belize City International airport
you can take taxi from the airport, to the marine terminal Downtown.

but I
don't know the hours. For the bus to El Remate buy your ticket at the
Marine
Terminal and tell driver you are going to Hotel La Casa De Don David in
El
Remate. ( ask the driver to bring you the hotel entrance). The Linea
Dorada bus leaves Flores at 6:am daily and passes La Casa De Don David
about 6:30am to pick up passangers. Buy your ticket at the hotel
reception. To Belize border $5.00. To Belize City Marine Terminal $23.00
Arriving from San Ignacio... There are no scheduled buses that goes from San Ignacio to Flores or el Remate. Most people arrive by mini bus or local bus to the Ixlu cruce (cross roads). You can take the 9 mile ride to the border from San Ignacio by taxi or local bus. Cross the border and go by local bus or take a mini bus. If you should be there at the time the Linea Dorada Buses are returning from belize you can get the hotel entrance for about $5. ea. (talk to the Driver) If not they will drop you at the Cruce about 2 km from the hotel. Good minibuses go for $40 for 4 persons or $60 up to 8 persons. Just tell to the driver you are going to Hotel La Casa De Don David in El Remate. There are taxis and minibuses almost always waiting for arrivals to the border. If they have arrive from Flores they often wait for passengers before returning. Bargain your price. If you take a local bus in route to Flores you will arrive at the cross road in Ixlu and need to get another bus or taxi for the 3 km ride to our hotel. From the Guatemala/Belize border Public buses $4.00 leave almost every hour in route to Flores. At the junction in El Cruce “Ixlu”, you must get another bus, taxi or walk 2 kms to El Remate. Going to Belize:
most
tourist pay nothing to enter Belize. US dollars is OK in Belize and is
accepted everywhere.. usually the same rate everywhere (1US dollar = 2
BH dollars).. BECAREFUL ...many Americans pay double on their
first
visit. If the sales talk don't say US (meaning US dollars) when telling
you the price, it is Belize (BH) dollars they are talking about.
Best to take the 6:30 am Linea Dorada (buy tickets on the right at the hotel reception) bus coming from Flores stops infront of the the hotel entrance at 6:30 am(4hrs).. $23.00 TO AND FROM In Tourist often report lots of
waiting and individuals selling tickets in this area. Remember nothing
is free
even when sold as such. Many taxi & mini bus drivers get a
commission from
the hotel they convince you to stay in. At La Casa De Don David, We
do not sell tickets or services if we don't think they are reliable and
at this time do not offer services to or from Palenque. We are not associated with any
of the street or hotel mini bus salesman or taxi driver sales. The
prices and
services can vary a lot and if you've paid in advance its almost
impossible to
get any refund if your service isn't fulfilled. To and From El Remate
taxis and
minibuses cost $23 to $25. If there several persons they will come
collectivo
for Q20 each. to El Remate Or just walk 3 blocks to the main road and
get
